About
Monica is considered one of the most dominant players to have played the game. Monica Abbott is known for not only the impact she’s made on the sport, but also on the impact of those who aspire to play at the next level.
The powerhouse left-handed pitcher has achievements including 17 different championship titles, 2 Olympic Silver Medals with Team USA, and multiple Most Valuable Player awards.
In 2016, Monica signed a landmark $1 million contract with the Scrap Yard Dawgs of the National Pro Fastpitch League, opening the door for those in the sport of softball. This was the first-ever million dollar deal for a woman playing on a team sport in the United States, Monica’s contract made history, and along with it, the opportunity to open doors for others across the landscape of women’s sports.
Off the diamond, Monica is focused on educating and motivating the next generation of athletes. In 2013, she founded the Monica Abbott Scholarship to support multi-sport female athletes who have demonstrated leadership both in the classroom and in their respective athletic arenas. In 2023 after a 16yr professional career she officially retired from playing. She later released the anticipated biography “Rise and Shine: the Monica Abbott Story” and the coinciding mental game workbook “Abbott’s A-List: How to Bring It on and off the field”. She currently hosts clinics with softball athletes across the country and is a sought-after private teacher and motivational speaker.
