2026 Oktoberfest Wagon Parade: A Harvest Celebration

2026 Oktoberfest Wagon Parade: A Harvest Celebration

Saturday, September 26, 2026 (10:00 AM - 11:00 AM) (CDT)

Description

Did you know there’s a parade held every year at Oktoberfest in Munich? The tradition dates back to 1810, when it was first held to celebrate the marriage of Prince Ludwig and Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen.

Our Wagon Parade is a nod to that historic celebration—bringing a touch of German flair and community spirit to our own festival!

Join us on Saturday, September 26 at 10:00 AM as hand-pulled wagons make their way through the heart of the event. Gather your Wagon Team and enjoy a short, festive walk down 3rd and Douglas Streets, surrounded by cheering crowds and lively entertainment. Along the route, participants are encouraged to hand out candy to eager spectators, while a pair of emcees keeps the energy high—introducing each wagon as it approaches the intersection of Douglas and 3rd. (Please provide a short script for the emcees to share about your group.)

This is your chance to shine by showing off your wagon float and promoting your organization to the community. This year, we’re celebrating a Harvest Festival theme, and participating businesses and organizations are encouraged to decorate their wagons with creative nods to farm life—think barnyard animals, autumn harvests, rustic scenes, and seasonal charm.

This event is all about having fun, getting creative, and celebrating the season together. Small prizes—and major bragging rights—will be awarded to the top wagons!

Please note: No politically affiliated organizations or public interest groups will be considered. Motorized wagons or vehicles are not permitted.

We look forward to seeing you there!
